If you work in the creative media, event management or technical theatre and want to move into locations, you may be interested in this Sgil Cymru location manager course set for January 2019. The ScreenSkills Film Skills Fund supports this programme, with contributions from UK film productions.
The course runs for 10 days, Monday to Friday, over 2 weeks, starting on Monday 28th of January and ending on Friday 8th of February 2019. It will be divided into three main elements of location management: Scouting, Production Paperwork and Location Department Hierarchy and Practical hands-on exercises with On-Set visits.
Lowri Thomas is the location management course tutor. She trained as an Assistant Floor Manager and then as Production Manager at BBC Cymru Wales before becoming a freelance Location Manager. Lowri has worked on BBC and S4C drama and film productions and her credits include Dr Who, Rocket’s Island and Hollyoaks. Along with this, she is credited on numerous commercials, low budget feature films and countless other live and recorded productions.
During the two weeks, highly experienced guest speakers will deliver the course content. They will use their experiences of location management in feature film to guide the trainees through the learning process. Guest speakers for the course will be announced in the New Year.
