Birmingham famously has more canals than Venice and there is an abundance of beautiful architecture surrounding it. The city’s town planners have made intelligent use of the waterfronts, with buildings, bridges and walkways lining the canals, and a smart reservoir in Edgbaston that doubles up as a public park and watersports centre.
