RISE2 – A Channel 4 Production Mentoring Initiative
RISE2 follows on from the successful Channel 4 /TripleC RISE mentoring initiative in 2022.
RISE2 is an opportunity for deaf, disabled, and /or neurodivergent off-screen talent working in TV at a mid-career level or above. This could include people working in production management, editorial, craft and technical roles. This is not an early career or entry level scheme.
- Have you been working in TV for at least three years and have you already progressed in your career?
- Have you been working at your current level or in the same kind of role for at least 18 months?
- Can you demonstrate real potential for moving on to the next stage of your career with the right support?
If the answers to these questions are “yes” then this could be the programme for you!
TripleC DANC is partnering with Channel 4 to deliver RISE2, a year-long mentoring initiative to support and elevate the next generation of senior off-screen deaf, disabled and / or neurodivergent talent in TV.
There are 6 places and the scheme will take place in 2024. They will take a step-by-step approach to building the programme around the needs identified by the selected mentees.
Applicants may be working in any genre, scripted or unscripted, and in any type of off-screen role – production management, editorial, craft or technical. They must be mid to senior level – ie, have been working in TV for at least three years and progressed already in their career. For example, moved from Researcher to Assistant Producer or progressed from Production Secretary to Production Coordinator.
They will also be encountering barriers to further progression in their career, probably (but not necessarily) due to a lack of support around access and/or attitudes and understanding.
The overarching aim is for RISE2 mentees to be in a stronger position to move to the next stage of their career once they have taken part.
This is not a scheme for entry into the TV industry. For entry level/early career opportunities via Channel 4 please go to the 4Skills website. Participants must be UK based.
What’s involved?
This is a remote/online scheme that will take place over Zoom. It runs from January 2024 to December 2024. Each participant will receive:
- An introductory session with TripleC, Channel 4, and their mentor.
- 6 one-to-one sessions with their mentor;
- 3 group support sessions; and
- 6 training/skills sessions focused on lived experience.
TripleC DANC will facilitate access and support participants throughout the process. It is free to take part in the programme and mentees will be paid a fee of £60 per hour for their time spent in one-to-one sessions and group sessions (fees will not be payable for the skills sessions).
