To mark the Year of the Young Worker, BECTU has launched its first ever Future Filmmakers Festival, which is now open for submissions. BECTU will celebrate emerging talent across the UK at its first ever film festival, taking place 30th September 2019, with screenings taking place at The Cinema Museum, London. This is in collaboration with BECTU Young Members.

 

Eligibility

The Festival accepts applications from all filmmakers under the age of 25, or who graduated in the last 12 months, regardless of their country of origin, who are registered members of BECTU trade union or have joined the union by 31st July 2019.

It is ideal for budding filmmakers looking to break into the film industry or those who have a film under 15 minutes they want to get  seen. The film can be either fiction, documentary or experimental.

To Submit

Deadline for submissions is 31st July 2019 at midnight.
Send a link to view your entry (e.g. via YouTube or Vimeo) to: futurefilmmakers@bectu.org.uk , providing a viewing password if necessary. All shooting formats are accepted and films can be either fictional, documentary or experimental. The length of the films must not exceed 15 minutes. Submission is free. You must own the intellectual rights to the film you submit, and acknowledge that BECTU is not liable for any claims or expenses asked from any third party regarding rights matter.

Awards

A confirmation e-mail will be sent in September to specify the categories which will be awarded and the details of the prizes. Award-winner films are encouraged to use this label for promotional purposes: “[Award title] – BECTU Future Filmmakers Festival 2019”.
