New Creatives Programme
The New Creatives programme for young emerging talent is coming to the Midlands! Rural Media are currently looking for emerging talent between the ages of 16-30 with strong creative ideas and drive. The programme will help develop your original concept into a professional short film, audio or interactive media work. You will also receive the skill training needed to bring your idea to life and showcase it to audiences.
Ideas can come from many artistic disciplines. For example – dancers, actors, performers, musicians, writers, film makers, comedians, visual artists, animators, poets, storytellers and games designers. You might not consider yourself an artist, but if you are passionate about your creative idea and have something to say, you should get involved. Each commissioned artist will work directly with a professional production company. The company will also manage the budget (up to £5k for film and £3k for audio) and mentor you through the process.
What They Want
From the serious to the comedic, the absurd to the challenging, the provocative to the abstract, Rural Media are looking for ideas that push the boundaries on what constitutes art. It should make people think, and encourage new ways of understanding ourselves and the world in which we live. So they want to unearth diverse, new talent and commission ideas that we may not have seen represented before on screen, on-air and online.
New Creatives content may be selected for an exciting new programming strand: BBC Introducing Arts. It showcases and introduces new artistic talent from the UK across BBC platforms – on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, BBC television and radio. Rural Media will look to identify the best platform for each idea.
This is an unprecedented opportunity for creatives to experiment and connect with BBC audiences and beyond. However they cannot accept any ideas that are journalism or current affairs documentaries.
The deadline for applications to the New Creatives Programme is July 16th, 2019. Click here to apply.
