This year’s Back In films are a product of the Back In Flagship programme, which supports in Birmingham’s future black filmmakers. Back In works with creative talent from across the city region’s diverse communities and vibrant neighbourhoods. The programme guides them through six months of training with industry experts. It also allows the opportunity to have their original ideas commissioned.

The dynamic programme is powered by creative agency Punch and produced by talented director and entrepreneur Daniel Alexander. It’s now in its second year, and it enables filmmakers to attend bootcamps and masterclasses, develop industry knowledge, gain professional connections and be mentored. It concludes with the commission and creation of a short film on a small budget.

On February 4, 2019, Back In will showcase some of the most recent work to come out of the project and allow for discussion around the film industry. The event will be held at The Mockingbird Cinema and Kitchen at 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM GMT.
