Reel Impact | The Film and TV Charity
Reel Impact is the Film and TV Charity’s brand-new programme to support mid to senior level Black and Global Majority individuals, as well as Black and Global Majority-led production companies and organisations working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema.
Reel Impact has been developed from their previously announced Impact Partnership Programme, and co-designed with the support and direction of a panel of Black and Global Majority creatives and senior industry figures. It aims to address the impacts of systemic racism in the industry, drive greater access to opportunities, and support and develop the careers of under-represented talent.
Reel Impact Offers
- Grants of up to £10,000 for mid-to-senior level Black and Global Majority individuals.
- Grants of up to £25,000 for Black and Global Majority production companies or organisations in the industry.

Who should apply
- Black and Global Majority individuals and organisations who champion anti-racist practices in the industry.
- Black and Global Majority-led or owned production companies or organisations, running existing or new and innovative projects who want to scale up, build sustainability, or enhance their capacity to provide support, opportunities and inspiration for Black and Global Majority talent.
- Black and Global Majority individuals, wanting to enhance their career, and/or those of others.
- The Film and TV Charity define Black and Global Majority to mean people who are Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and/or have been racialised as ‘ethnic minorities’.
- The Film and TV Charity define mid-to-senior as those that demonstrate they have a level of experience and expertise, areas of responsibility, such as holding leadership, management, decision making or more complex roles.
Key dates
- Applications for the first round of funding are open from 13th May until the 30th June 2024.
- The first round of grants will be awarded in September 2024, with further funding rounds expected to take place from November 2024 and September 2025.
How to apply
- You can apply for a grant by completing the application form via Film & TV Charity. The form consists of several sections, including eligibility, personal details, professional experience, and details of your project or activity including a budget breakdown.
- To complete the application, you will also need to upload supporting evidence including an up-to-date CV and proof of ID, such as your passport, driving license, last three months’ payslips, or bank statements.
- To help the Film and TV Charity understand more about your project, you will need to answer a series of questions, either by providing written answers or by uploading a video.
- You can also provide up to two pieces of additional information to support your application. This is not compulsory, but could include professional references, letters of recommendation, case studies, or testimonials.

Please note: Reel Impact grant does not cover production or development costs, or any expenses incurred in the process of creating and delivering a production.
