Slick Films Fund 2024
OSCAR® WINNING SLICK FILMS £10K FILM FUND IN ASSOCIATION WITH BOLTON FILM FESTIVAL
Slick Films, in association with the Bolton Film Festival, proudly announces the “Slick Films Fund” with a grand prize of £10,000 and an array of invaluable industry resources. The fund is designed to discover and nurture emerging talent in the short film sector and support the next generation of filmmakers.
The fund includes a special category exclusively for first-time filmmakers for a prize of £3,000, ensuring a broad support spectrum for creative voices.
The main prize winner will also receive mentorship from Slick Films Academy Award® winners Chris Overton and Rachel Shenton, consultations with London Flair PR, Adrian Barber of Bolton Film Festival and Network Ireland Television for distribution, an in-depth festival strategy crafted by Festival Formula, a full technical DCP package from Cinebox, and a feature in Directors Notes.
1st Prize Winner, Main Fund
The winner will receive;
- £10,000 funding towards the production of their short film
- Mentorship from Oscar® winning filmmakers
- Production Package via Slick Films – access to banking, legal, insurance, accounting, and much more
- PR Consultation with Publicist Catherine Lyn Scott from London Flair PR (6 x Oscar® Winning Campaigns)
- Distribution consultation with NITV (Distributed 6 Oscar® Winning Shorts)
- Consultation with Bolton Film Festival director Adrian Barber
- A comprehensive Festival Strategy plan with Festival Formula
- Featured article in Directors Notes

Key Dates
- Applications open – 15th April 2024
- Earlybird deadline (£30.00) – 15th May 2024 (23:59 GMT)
- Regular deadline (£40.00) – 15th June 2024 (23:59 GMT)
- Late deadline (£50.00) – 15th July 2024 (23:59 GMT)
- Notification date – 1st September 2024
- Pitch event at Bolton Film Festival – 4th October 2024
- Winners announced – 4th October 2024
Submission Guidelines
- The fund is open to filmmakers based in the UK and EU.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
- Film Production Companies can enter.
- Submissions must be original, unpublished works.
- Submissions will be judged based on creativity, originality, storytelling, and feasibility for production.
- Scripts must be in English and not exceed 21 pages in length for both competitions.
- Lookbooks and Decks are encouraged.
- Submissions must have at least 2 of the following (Writer, Director, Producer). Sole writers are still encouraged to submit as Slick Films can pair you with recommended directors and producers.
- Submitters must have an idea of budget and costs.
- There is no limit on the number of submissions one may enter.
- Only electronic submissions (PDF) will be accepted.
- Final deadline for submission is Monday, July 15th, 2024 at 23:59 GMT.
- If selected among the shortlist in the main competition, you will be invited to pitch your script at Bolton Film Festival on Friday, October 4th 2024, of which attendance will be mandatory.
