The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) are seeking an inaugural Chair for the new industry body; applications are open to individuals across the screen sector. The deadline for this opportunity is 5pm 14th June 2019.

Context

There have been significant developments in the West Midlands’ creative economy over the last 18 months, including winning a £1.3m boost from the DCMS Creative Industries Scale Up programme and the recently launched Local Industrial Strategy, with its commitment to ‘creative content, techniques and technologies’.

The screen sector has benefited from supportive programmes such as the BFI funded and WMCA and BCC supported West Midlands Screen Bureau’s Design Labs, pilots
and research, Creative England’s Be More Birmingham event and policy roundtable and Ukie’s programme of events and support for the games and interactive sector. The
invaluable work on the Channel 4 bid created momentum and identified some promising opportunities.

across the region, led by the industry.
