SUMMARY:NEXUS: East vs West Midlands Showcase 2024
DESCRIPTION:– The Deets – \nWe are delighted to be hosting our second East vs West Midlands Showcase in May 2024 where we will be screening a fantastic selection of short films\, half of which will represent the East Midlands with the other half representing the West. \nThis will be a friendly\, supportive (and perhaps a little competitive) event bringing both of the UK’s Midlands regions together. \nThe event will take place at Derby QUAD 1:30pm – 6pm on 4 May 2024\, and will include our film screening and awards presentation followed by some networking time and our well-known Pitch Up opportunity\, giving anyone at the event the chance to pitch themselves\, a project or whatever they fancy to the collective talent & knowledge at the event. \n– Line Up –\n‘A Different Place’ \nby Sophie Black\, Tommy Draper\, Z. So\, the award for ‘Best West’ will be picked by our East Midlands audience and our ‘Best East’ film will be picked by West Midlanders. \nFinally\, our ‘Best Midlands’ film overall will be decided by a Jury of industry professionals who will confer after the screening to name the best overall midlands production from this year’s showcase. \nEach of the winning films will receive an award\, presented by Nexus to the winning teams as recognition of their hard-work and skill. \nKeep your eyes peeled for jury announcements coming soon! \n– Pricing –\nNexus Cast & Crew Network CIC is a not-for-profit organisation relying heavily on donations\, however it is important to us that our events are accessible to all. Therefore\, they operate a ‘Pay What You Can’ policy starting at £1. Our 2024 festival will run for ten days\, showcasing brilliant films of all shapes and sizes alongside unique and unexpected performances for all the senses. \nFlatpack is a mobile arts organisation which exists to show amazing work\, bring people together and develop new ideas. We love film in all shapes and sizes\, particularly where it bumps up against other artforms\, and get a kick out of transforming spaces to create unforgettable events. Every May you can find us taking over venues across Birmingham with the “magnificently eclectic” Flatpack Festival\, while throughout the year we pop up all over the place with everything from family activities to al fresco horror.

DESCRIPTION:Screen B14 are very excited to continue their monthly Thursday Film Night residency at the Cuban Embassy (The Bulls Head)\, 23 St Mary’s Row\, Moseley\, B13 8HW. This is an amazing opportunity for us to build a regular audience with exclusive film screenings that can’t be found anywhere else! There is loads of potential for us to contribute to Kings Heath\, Moseley and the wider Birmingham film scene – bringing the best of global cinema to your front door.***\nTheir next community film @ The Cuban night is a special one: Screen B14 Short Films will take place on Thursday 23rd May. This will be a screening of Midlands short films (7:30pm doors and 8:00pm start time). The bar and kitchen will be open: with 2 for 1 on selected cocktails throughout the film. Standard tickets will be a pay as you can with £2.50 minimum online and they also accept CEA cards with one full-paying standard ticket. *DUE TO BEING LOCAL SHORTS THESE FILMS WILL NOT HAVE SUBTITLES* \nPlease note: Screen B14 Short Films are unclassified and therefore nobody under the age of 18 will be admitted. Tickets will not be refunded in this instance. Due to being in the upstairs function room\, the venue is also not wheelchair accessible. They will provide blankets but they encourage you to bring a cushion for more comfortable seating.\n***\nScreen B14 is Your Community Cinema and they want their events to be a place for connection\, conversation and inspiration. They want to encourage an exploration of all things film and support lots of local filmmakers in the process.
