There is loads of potential for us to contribute to Kings Heath\, Moseley and the wider Birmingham film scene – bringing the best of global cinema to your front door.***\nTheir next community film @ The Cuban night is a special one: Screen B14 Short Films will take place on Thursday 23rd May. This will be a screening of Midlands short films (7:30pm doors and 8:00pm start time). The bar and kitchen will be open: with 2 for 1 on selected cocktails throughout the film. Standard tickets will be a pay as you can with £2.50 minimum online and they also accept CEA cards with one full-paying standard ticket. *DUE TO BEING LOCAL SHORTS THESE FILMS WILL NOT HAVE SUBTITLES* \nPlease note: Screen B14 Short Films are unclassified and therefore nobody under the age of 18 will be admitted. Tickets will not be refunded in this instance. Due to being in the upstairs function room\, the venue is also not wheelchair accessible. The funding focusses on establishing localised support for skills development and training within the West Midlands\, with an aim to create new opportunities for people from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in the sector – it is all about increasing equity\, diversity and inclusion in the film and TV industry. \nThey know it can feel like an irritation to be asked about private information\, but it’s really important to gather this data so they can measure the impact of the funding and know that they are really reaching the people it is designed to support. SUMMARY:Early Development Funding - Midlands Filmmaker Roundtable 1
DESCRIPTION:As the BFI NETWORK Early Development Fund re-opens\, Film Hub Midlands are hosting a series of roundtables with their Talent Executives to learn more about the fund\, the process of writing a treatment and other BFI NETWORK opportunities in the Midlands. \nThe Early Development Fund is for emerging writers who looking to make the leap from shorts or writers who may be coming from other disciplines who are looking to make the crossover to features. The fund enables writers to take an idea to treatment level and they hope these roundtables can give you an insight into the journey and beyond. All their roundtables are informal with plenty of opportunity to ask your own questions. \nThe deadline for the Early Development Fund is 11am on Tuesday 19th November 2024. \nThese sessions are open to filmmakers based in the Midlands\, or producers working with writers in the Midlands. \nThey often experience high levels of demand for these limited-capacity roundtables. If you have booked and are unable to make the session please let them know at BFINETWORK@filmhubmidlands.org or cancel through Eventbrite. In order to ensure that spaces are available to all\, they reserve the right to cancel future roundtable bookings within this series for those who do not attend without cancelling.

DESCRIPTION:Reel Brum is a network and creative hub for filmmakers of all levels based in Birmingham. \nIt is a network and creative hub set up for Filmmakers in Birmingham to meet\, network\, share ideas\, create and produce. It’s aims are to foster a creative community within the city\, connecting like-minded people to produce consistent\, high quality films. \nOur events will be monthly and be a mixture of film-screenings\, networking\, pitching and idea development; all with the view of bringing people together to make films and create a thriving filmmaking community within the city. \nThis network is open to anybody from Birmingham involved or interested in film and filmmaking. \nWriters\, Cinematographers\, Actors\, Make Up Artists\, Producers\, Directors\, Set-dressers\, Sound Recordists…anybody\, cast or crew. \nOur events will involve networking\, pitching\, screenings and talks. \nYou can submit for April selection now – you can check criteria here: https://www.reelbrum.com/flatpack-x-reel-brum \nFilms will be considered for the Reel Brum strand at Flatpack Festival 2025 \nYou can submit films to us via info@reelbrum.com \nAll ticket money is used to Fund Reel Brum Network Activity and is reinvested into the network film creation fund.
