SUMMARY:RICKY SUE AND A TRIP OR TWO SCREENING
DESCRIPTION:National treasures Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston first appeared over 40 years ago on our screens as husband and wife Bobby and Sheila Grant in ‘Brookside’\, and then we fell in love with them again as Jim and Barbara in the iconic ‘Royle Family’.  \nAnd now they are back! And they’re coming to Birmingham! \nWe can’t tell you how excited we are that the legends that are Ricky and Sue are joining us for a very special event where they will delight us with the stories about their new series\, Ricky\, Sue and a Trip or Two. The duo will be taking three road trips\, to show each other some of the places that shaped their lives.  And\, like any good road trip\, there’ll be some diversions along the way\, as they explore new places\, try new things and meet some famous friends. \nYou are invited to join us at the Midlands Art Centre on Wednesday 20th March at 7pm for a special screening of the Midlands episode of the series. \nAfter the screening Ricky and Sue will be joined on stage by Channel 4 Commissioner\, Jayne Stanger and Creative Director of Nine Lives Media\, Jazz Gowans and this fabulous panel will give us a special insight into the making of what promises to be a brilliant series. \nTo book your place please visit the RTS website. \nThis event is free to attend. Due to anticipated demand you may only book 1 place for yourself. All guests must book a place. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. \nPlease note this is not a Meet and Greet event and filming of the content is not permitted. \nThe three-part series Ricky\, Sue & a Trip or Two is a commission for More4 from Nine Lives Media in Birmingham and LA Productions in Liverpool\, resulting from Channel 4 and Create Central’s More4 the West Midlands development fund. \nThe series is commissioned as a result of Channel 4 and Create Central’s linear unscripted development initiative More4 the West Midlands\, a partnership launched in April 2022 to forge stronger relationships between West Midlands’ indies and Channel 4 Commissioning to create more opportunities for creative talent in the region.

SUMMARY:The Old Oak + Q&A with Ken Loach
DESCRIPTION:Rumoured to be the final film of acclaimed British director Ken Loach\, The Old Oak is a moving and powerful drama that shows the ways fear and hope can define and drive a community. In a northern former mining town\, pub landlord TJ keeps the pub The Old Oak running thanks to a handful of loyal regulars. He observes their increasing frustrations at the deprivation in their local community\, and the simmering tension that forms around the arrival of several refugee Syrian families who have been housed in the area. That anger is exacerbated when TJ strikes up an unlikely friendship with Yara\, a young Syrian photographer. \nFollowing I\, Daniel Blake and Sorry We Missed You\, Ken Loach completes his ‘North East Trilogy’ in the same highly emotive register\, fearlessly exploring uncomfortably honest stories with a deep compassion for his and screenwriter Paul Laverty’s characters. Heartbreaking\, but never without hope\, The Old Oak is a striking reminder of why Ken Loach is\, and always will be\, one of the UK’s most important filmmakers. \nThe screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with Ken Loach. Hosted by Professor Roger Shannon. \nPrice: From £13.50
