DESCRIPTION:*More Films For Freedom have just opened applications for their 2023 edition of the fund!* \nMore Films for Freedom is a partnership between BFI NETWORK and the British Council that aims to find and fund vital\, creative collaborations that explore LGBTQIA+ global human rights\, intersectionality or diaspora identity. \nWe aim to commission up to three new projects that will have at their heart an element of collaboration between UK-based filmmakers and storytellers from both Africa and the Middle East (SWANA) \nThe successful applicants will be awarded a grant of up to £25\,000 each to cover the costs of all stages of production\, delivery of materials\, and team travel. \nWe can support fiction\, documentary and animated film\, and films that cut across these generic distinctions. DESCRIPTION:Midlands filmmaker Shona Auerbach presents her new feature Rudy\, a poignant insight into love\, loss and moving on. Stuck as a proxy parent to her younger siblings and dealing with a recent loss\, the titular Rudy feels increasingly pushed out when her home gets opened up to a paying guest. Through a newfound friendship with a boy from Coventry\, she discovers fun\, freedom and autonomy\, but is it at the sacrifice of unspoken family wounds? \nScreening in 24th and 28th June. The screening on Saturday 24th June will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Shona Auerbach. \n\n\n\n\n\nDuration includes trailers and adverts. SUMMARY:Relationships on Film: Healthy Relationships
DESCRIPTION:This course is part of Relationships on Film\, a series of short learning experiences to support sex and relationships education.  \nWith intimate relationships coming in all different shapes and sizes\, how can we teach young people to recognise the difference between healthy and harmful relationship behaviours?   \nDesigned in partnership with the leading sexual health and wellbeing charity\, Brook\, this course provides practical and engaging film-based teaching ideas to support educators of 11–16-year-olds in exploring the traits of healthy relationships. Through our curated selection of film content\, you’ll learn how to discuss the sex and relationships issues facing young people today using a medium that is both familiar and relatable.    \nAlong the way\, you’ll gain access to a range of materials to enhance your teaching including ready-to-use lessons and resources\, professional short and youth-made films\, as well as feature-length content available to stream on Into Film+.   \nAs part of this course series\, we are also offering a free live webinar\, focused on teaching about sex and relationships in a digital context. In addition to accessing exclusive content\, not available as part of the courses\, this session is a chance to ask questions to course experts and share ideas with educators across the UK.     \nThe webinar will be held on:   \nThursday 22 June 2023 at 4:00pm – Relationships on Film: Let’s Get Digital \nA Welsh language webinar to accompany this course series will also run on Tuesday 4 July 2023.
