DESCRIPTION:Filming In England’s Industry Mixer networking evenings strive to bring together Film & TV crew from all backgrounds and experience levels.​ By uniting regional based crew\, supply chain businesses and supporting local partners they are uniquely placed to convene industry conversations\, fostering new opportunities for attendees. \nTo register for Filming in England Connect; Birmingham Industry Mixer\, please first fill out the form on Filming In England’s events page. \nFilming in England and its event partners stand committed to fostering equality\, diversity and inclusion across our screen industries. \nTheir partners\, Create Central\, have been selected by British Film Institute (BFI) to receive funding as one of six Skills Clusters. The funding focusses on establishing localised support for skills development and training within the West Midlands\, with an aim to create new opportunities for people from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in the sector – it is all about increasing equity\, diversity and inclusion in the film and TV industry. \nThey know it can feel like an irritation to be asked about private information\, but it’s really important to gather this data so they can measure the impact of the funding and know that they are really reaching the people it is designed to support. Any personal data you provide will be kept strictly confidential and will remain totally anonymous. Your input makes a real difference and allows them to continue delivering their services in a meaningful\, impactful way. \nThey would be extremely grateful if you could fill in the form. A four day Lab dedicated to short filmmaking. \nOver the course of the week\, Shorts School participants will hear insights from BFI NETWORK-funded filmmakers and meet other creatives. Whether you’re working towards your first short or sixth\, Shorts School is for emerging writers\, directors & producers to explore case studies\, creative process\, navigating the industry with your short work. \nThere will be Q&A’s\, roundtables\, the chance to view short work that’s come through the Short Film Fund\, as well as a networking session to meet peers and potential collaborators. \nGuest speakers include: \n\nDarryl Foster\, writer & director (Hard to Reach)\nNatasha Tonkin\, writer & director (Darwin Story)\nTracey Lopes\, writer & director (The Girls’ Room)\nAjuan Issac-George\, writer & director (Snow Falls in the Summer)\n\nAdditional speaker to be confirmed. \nDates: \n21st – 24th August 2023\, from 1pm each day. \nFREE TO ATTEND! \nNB: We recommend attending all sessions where possible\, sessions will be recorded for those who sign up.
