Win a Free Filmmaking Workshop- competition deadline extended!

Posted on 23 June 2011

Having received several pleas from busy teachers eager to enter the competition but running out of time before the end of the summer term, First Light have decided to extend the deadline and the delivery of the workshop.

The competition will now close at 5pm on Friday 15 July 2011 and the winning school will be revealed no later than Friday 22 July 2011.

The filmmaking workshop will take place at a suitable time for the winning school during the autumn term 2011.

If you have already entered the competition, your entry will still be considered.

About the competition

To celebrate the launch of First Light in the Classroom (FLIC), First Light is offering one lucky school the chance to win a free professional filmmaking workshop.

The competition is open to all schools across the UK but there will only be one winner. Entries can be from a pupil, a group of pupils or a teacher. The winner will have the opportunity to produce a 3 minute film about their school.

The prize will include:

Support from a professional film production facilitator to create your film;
Use of professional digital film production equipment;
An introduction to the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking;
30 copies of the film for you to share with your local community.

How to enter

To enter the competition, you need to provide a response of between 100 and 400 words to the question, ‘what is great about my school?’

You should consider what would make your school stand out from the other schools entering the competition. What do you enjoy most about your school? What do your friends enjoy about your school? Is it the teachers? The facilities? Other pupils? Or the whole school experience? Whatever it is, make sure you tell us in a creative and interesting way.

The response to the question needs to be broken down into the following subsections using the template provided:

What is so great about my school?- such as interesting facts, famous ex-pupils, achievements, funny stories
Why my school should win- this is your chance to really convince the judges.
