In addition to the annual UnderWire Festival (20-24 Nov’12), Co-Directors Gemma Mitchell and Helen Jack are heading out of London to meet the female talent which exists across the the UK. A key part of this tour are the Forum dinners.
On Monday 15th October, UnderWire Festival will be hosting their 5th Forum Dinner of their tour, this time in Birmingham. Aimed at female directors, producers and writers who have already made their first short or two and have professionally established themselves to a certain level, the Forums are focused, craft-specific meetups over dinner for no more than eight people.
UnderWire want to create a space to allow women to think ambitiously and confidently about progressing in their creative career. Three female mentor from the local region will also attend the dinner, to share with the Forum her experiences and advice. These evenings will encourage women to talk about their work, what career problems they might be facing and together we will set goals for the year. UnderWire mentors for the evening include director Penny Woolcock, producer Deborah Aston and writer Claire Bennett.
There is a cost of £20, with your meal and wine/soft drinks included. You can read the latest update on the UnderWire Forums on their blog. If you are interested in attending, please email email@example.com.
