iShorts+ ‘Funny Girls’

Applications are now open for the inaugural iShorts+ initiative, “Funny Girls”. In collaboration with Baby Cow Productions and Big Talk Pictures, they will support 5 narrative comedy short films – offering a £10,000 production award per film. They are looking for cinematic and bold stories to be directed by exciting female directors across England from all comedic backgrounds (short films, TV, theatre, stand up, radio, web series, etc.) who not only have something fabulous, fresh and – most of all – funny, to share with today’s audience, but also have the ambition to build a successful career in film comedy.

iShorts+ shines a light on areas of under-representation in England’s filmmaking community (including London) across genres that the Talent Centres believe warrant additional funding, awareness, promotion, mentoring and holistic support. This new round of iShorts is the first in an annual series that will focus on a different brief each time. Both the original iShorts and the new iShorts+ programmes are delivered through Creative England’s Sheffield and Brighton Talent Centres as part of the BFI NET.WORK.
