The John Brabourne Awards are a stepping stone for up and coming talent, driven to further their careers in all aspects of the film, commercial television and cinema industries and seek to help those disadvantaged in some way, for example through lack of funds or set-backs due to illness or accident.
Applicants should have worked in the UK film, cinema and commercial television industries behind the scenes for a minimum of two years and be able to demonstrate how receiving a John Brabourne Award will assist them in taking their career to the next level. (The two years do not have to be continuous and can be accumulated. Unpaid work can be counted.)
The John Brabourne Awards provide cash sums of between £1,000 and £5,000 to help with expenses such as living and travel costs, course fees, materials, hire charges etc. Applicants must demonstrate how receiving funding for their proposed activity will help progress them in their career. (Please note they will not provide funding retrospectively.)
The deadline for the current round is the 31st July 2013.
Applicants will be judged on both their financial need and the merit of their strategy to succeed in their chosen career. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess the talent and ability required to achieve their professional goals and also articulate how funding from JBA will help overcome barriers to allow them to succeed.
