From the all time classics Kes, Land and Freedom and Sweet Sixteen, to more recent releases such as The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Route Irish, Ken Loach’s films challenge and provoke audiences to think differently about the world we all live in.
There are 2 elements to this competition; the filmmaking challenge and the creative writing challenge. Details of both are below.
We are looking for talented filmmakers aged 16-25 to submit short films up to 3 minutes long that tell new stories, give a voice to interesting characters and challenge audiences to think differently about the world in which we live.
The 10 best entries will be invited to a celebratory event at the BFI Southbank in November where the winning filmmaker will be announced.

We are looking for young talented writers to submit a piece of creative writing inspired by Ken Loach’s films. We’re looking for creativity; you can submit a poem, script, play, short story, comic strip, storyboard or piece of non-fiction writing, it’s up to you!
There are 2 age categories for this challenge, 10-13 and 14-18.
