To celebrate the return of Peaky Blinders for its eagerly anticipated second series, a special exhibition will be running in the reception area of the Library of Birmingham from Friday 12 September until Thursday 25 September.

After the resounding success of series one, epic gangster drama Peaky Blinders returns to BBC Two in October. Stars Cillian Murphy and Helen McCrory will be joined by Tom Hardy and Noah Taylor for the second series, which sees the Shelby family of Birmingham expand their business empire and come up against new enemies.

BBC Birmingham and the production companies have collaborated to curate this small exhibition ahead of transmission for local fans of the show. Fans will find a couple of key costumes from series one, imagery, including photos of filming on set for series two, and props from the epic Birmingham-set gangster drama.

In addition, fans of the show can also see a short film made by the BBC Inside Out team at BBC Birmingham which documents the ‘Real Peaky Blinders’, as well as police portraits of the supposed gang members supplied by the West Midlands Police Museum.

The exhibition at the stunning Library of Birmingham will offer a small insight into the gang famed for sewing razor blades into the peaks of their Stetson caps.

Frith Tiplady, Head of Production at Tiger Aspect and an executive producer on the show, says:“Shooting the first series involved more than 100 sets and 700 costumes, and the scale has more than doubled for series two. We are delighted to be able to offer Birmingham fans the chance to see behind the scenes of the show.”

Tommy Nagra, Head of Business Development at BBC Birmingham, says:“The success of this stylish and epic show has generated a real fascination and curiosity for the secret history of Birmingham’s Peaky Blinders. This revealing BBC Birmingham exhibition will illuminate and bring alive some of the real-life stories and legend behind the characters of this incredibly popular BBC Two series. It promises to be a real treat for audiences.”

Commissioned by Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning and executive produced by Matthew Read for the BBC, Peaky Blinders is created and written by Steven Knight and produced for the BBC by Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions.
