Looking for a wider audience for your community film?

Posted on 14 October 2011

The Media Trust is currently looking for new local films that they can air on new TV Channel, UK360, from 29th November onwards.

It is unfortunate that so many fantastic stories about the positive work charities and voluntary organisations do never make their way into the mainstream media.

In response to this, Media Trust is launching UK360, a new television news programme which will go to air from November 29th on Community Channel and online.

We recognise that all great stories start on the street, at grass root levels and that those living in our communities across the UK, have the best and most interesting stories. UK 360 is part of a wider push by the Media Trust to launch a service that will empower citizens with the skills to report on their local issues. ‘Newsnet’ will encourage people from all over Britain learn to utilise the tools of modern technology to create, amongst other things, professional, insightful films that will raise awareness issues in their local community. Anyone can be a community reporter and we aim to empower people and give them a platform to do this. UK360 will broadcast the most inspirational of these films to a national television audience every fortnight.

We are looking for content all the time, so if you would like to send us your community films, please do get in touch, joed@mediatrust.org.

Community Channel broadcasts round-the-clock on Sky 539 and Virgin TV 233, and from 5am to 8am on Freeview 87. The Community Channel is available to over 92% of the British public through Freeview, Sky and Virgin.
