Posted on 30 January 2012

On the 1st March 2012 Watershed, Bristol will be hosting a free film-making workshop for school’s to get teachers and students inspired about making films for Electric December.

Teachers are invited to bring a team of students from school to Watershed to make a film in a day with acclaimed Writer/Director Conor McCormack and to find out how to get involved in Watershed’s annual competition for young filmmakers Electric December.

This is an amazing chance for students to work with Conor McCormack who was Bifa-nominated for his short film ‘Christmas with Dad’, and is currently working on ’7 Stones’ an innovative docu-drama made with children from a refugee camp in the West Bank.

Each school must bring a teacher who can bring along up to 6 students. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The deadline for booking your place is Wed 1 Feb 2012.

The Inspiration Day will include:

Introduction to Electric December
Film Genres and Storyboarding
Live pitching
Flip camera training
Editing training
Screening with industry professionals at the end of the day
This Inspiration Day is suitable for year 9, KS4 and KS5 media and film students or your G&T English cohort. The day could be linked with pre-production elements of both BTEC and GCSE courses and would help in developing learner media literacy skills. To get a flavour of the day take a look at the films made by students at the 2011 Inspiration Day.
