Foot in the Door, Practical Training Course Opportunity

Are you aged 16-24?

Do you want to develop your skills and explore a career in the film & TV industry?

Do you want to meet and work with industry professionals from BBC, Maverick TV, Blue Hippo Productions etc? Then this opportunity is for you.

Over 12 weeks part-time you will take part in a professionally led, practical introduction to filmmaking; developing your skills, building your networks and creating quality content. You will also be supported to apply for apprenticeships and/or job opportunities within the film and TV industry.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • Knowledge of the whole film making process from current industry experts
  • An introduction to all the elements of film making – camera, sound, lighting, editing, producing, directing and the industry as a whole.
  • A short film show reel
  • Experience of being on a real film shoot
  • Mentoring from current industry experts
  • Guidance on CV preparation and apprenticeship applications
  • The opportunity to move on to an apprenticeship with a production company

Duration: 12-week course between October & January part-time. Sessions will take place weekly on Weds and Thurs 7-9pm and Sat 10-4pm starting on 26th October until the end of January, with a 2 week break in December. Sessions will be both at Custard Factory, Digbeth, Birmingham and on location.

Supporting you: We want to remove any barriers between you and your passion for film & TV. We can help cover transport, childcare and other costs.

Applicants will be expected to submit an application to this competitive scheme by Weds 19th October. There will be an assessment centre on Fri 21st and the course starts on Weds 26th.
