The Departure Lounge presents Eve Wood’s documentary, which follows the story of seminal pop misfits Pulp, from the industrial depths of Sheffield, through Thatcher’s turbulent 1980′s to the pinnacle of pop, and the forefront of the Britpop movement.
Eve Wood, director of ‘The Beat is the Law’, will introduce her film; and after the screening will participate in a question and answer session with Jez Collins of Birmingham City University, who was also an Exec Producer of the Birmingham music film, Made in Birmingham / Reggae Punk Bhangra.
Eve Wood’s debut documentary was ‘Made in Sheffield’ in 2001, a film which included bands such as The Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, ABC and Heaven 17.
The Departure Lounge at mac cinema supports UK film by showcasing first features and independent cinema. Recent visitors to The Departure Lounge have included Natasha Carlish and Michael Baig Clifford, film – ‘Turbulence’; Khaled El Hagar, film – ‘Little Dreams’; Carol Morley and Cairo Cannon, film – ‘Edge’.
