The explosion of online audio streams and the ubiquity of handheld devices had lead sceptics to predict the long slow death of radio. But we’ve been here before: video didn’t kill the radio star and listening figures are as high as they’ve ever been. Trevor Dann is a British writer and broadcaster who has been associated with some of the most influential radio and television pop music programmes and events of the last 30 years. He argues that the basic characteristics of the medium, portable and personal, make its future in the digital age assured. Drawing on both his past experiences at the BBC and his current role in independent production, Dann outlines a new vision for radio programming, commercial and public service, in the post-platform age.
This event is sponsored by Gecko Programmes, a West Midlands training provider, promoter of the LLP and partner of the INPUT project – Lighting the path for working in Europe as an events manager.
Andrea Cenderello, Project Manager of INPUT will present conclusions of this European Partnership project.
From 2pm until 4pm, the School of Digital Media Technology presents its Student Showcase 2012,
