Over 300 events will be taking place on the festival’s opening day, including a screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom in Cardiff accompanied by a talk from Show Racism The Red Card; war drama The Railway Man in Sheffield with a post-event discussion led by Gemma Baird of Cinema For All, and an exciting preview of Disneynature’s new documentary Bears at the beautiful Odeon West End. Cinematographer Sophie Darlington will be in attendance, as will director / producer Keith Scholey, to talk about how they caught such wonderful footage for the film and take questions from the young people in attendance.
November 4 is also the official ‘Dress as your Favourite Film Character’ day. Last year’s was great fun, with thousands of young people dressing up for the occasion, and this year should be even better. If you’re attending, make sure to let your students know – who knows what film stars will be gracing the red carpet.
