Celebrated actor launches Film Festival mentoring program

This October Birmingham will play host to the seventh annual Black International Film Festival. The Festival, which will run in the city from October (27th October – 2nd November 2013) and remains the premiere Black International Film Festival in the country. incorporating Film , Music, Education and Live Arts. In addition the festival hosts the much celebrated Music Video & Screen Awards (MVSA), which will take place 2nd November 2013 at the ICC.

Celebrated actor Rudolph Walker OBE, best-known for his long spell as Patrick Truman in the BBC drama EastEnders, will be visiting the city ahead of the launch of the Black International film festival’s call for submissions, to promote his youth initiative mentoring program. The Black International Film Festival will launch the program in partnership with Rudolph Walker OBE later this year. The program will be aimed disadvantage inner city youths. Rudolph already runs a successful mentoring program in London in the guise of the inter school drama completion www.rwisda.com. Rudolph Walker OBE will be meeting with the leader of the city council Sir Albert Bore to discuss the mentoring program and the film festival.

The Festival is supported by Film Birmingham, as part of the ongoing activity to promote the city’s cultural offering.

A short speech will be made by Rudolph Walker OBE before one to one interviews and photo/filming opportunities.
