Call for applications is open for the Youth Film Academy Network

The Youth Film Academy Network will give talented 16-19 year-olds with a passion for film, from all backgrounds across England, the opportunity to be part of our future film industry. The programme is being supported by the Department for Education in England which has committed £1m per annum funding from April 2012 to 31 March 2015.

The Youth Film Academy Network also forms part of the BFI’s overall 5-19 Education Scheme.

The organisation is now looking to appoint partners to help it deliver this ambitious and exciting programme and have opened the call for applications process.

Interested applicants can apply to one or both of the network’s connected strands – the Regional Programme and the Residential Talent Campus.

Regional Programme

In this initial phase, January to March 2013, the BFI will establish a network programme throughout the nine English regions, including London. A series of delivery partners will be appointed who will plan, design and implement regular weekend or early evening film courses for 16-19 year olds.

The application deadline for the regional programme is Friday 19 October 2012 at 11.59am.

Residential Talent Campus

In March 2013, a selected number of participants will go on to attend a residential Talent Campus, which will be a tightly structured programme of masterclasses, career coaching, hands-on sessions and engagement with current industry professionals. This is an intense ‘hot housing’ experience aimed at benefitting 50 of the most talented young people in the UK. The BFI is looking to appoint a partner who will design, plan and implement a unique event and one that offers each participant a truly exceptional experience.

The application deadline for the residential Talent Campus is Wednesday 7 November 2012 at 12pm.
