6th June Newsletter 14 weeks till ArtsFest 2011

Welcome to the ArtsFest 2011 Newsletter

Here is the first of this years newsletters detailing the exciting progress of ArtsFest 2011. Whether you’re an applicant, an artist or an ArtsFest friend signed up to our mailing list, we will be sending these newsletters out to you to keep you up to date with festival announcements as we count down to ArtsFest 2011!

New additions to the ArtsFest Team

The festival team has been joined by three new people! Administration Assistants Rachel Trinder & Vanita Patel are helping Emily to manage the admin and programme side of things here at ArtsFest HQ. So anything ranging from ArtsFest queries to artist and venue confirmation details, these are your ‘go to’ girls! Finally we have Tom Bowkett, our Volunteer Co-ordinator, who is busy organising anything and everything volunteer related!

The full ArtsFest Team is as follows – Lisa Kennedy (Events Team-dealing with ArtsFest Production, Infrastructure & Ticket Booth), Pam Renoata (Events Team-dealing with ArtsFest Marketing, Promotion & Volunteers), Emily Bartlett (Events Team-dealing with Artists, Programme, Venues & Stages), Rachel Trinder & Vanita Patel (Administration Assistants) and Tom Bowkett (Volunteer Co-ordinator).

Please note that Lisa works part time (Mon-Wed) & Pam part time (Wed-Fri). All other staff are full time.

Applications Are Now Being Reviewed

Applications for all visual, digital and performing artists closed on 2nd May. It’s been a bumper crop this year with hundreds of applications to sort through. All applications have now been reviewed and the festival schedule is being pulled together. We will be informing all applicants of whether they’ve been successful or not between 13th-24th June. If you have applied and not heard from us yet please do not panic – this does not mean you have been unsuccessful. We have hundreds of artists to contact and will be in touch as soon as we can.

Volunteers

Now the application date for contributors has passed, we’re looking for volunteers. Our volunteers are crucial to ArtsFest as without them the event couldn’t take place! Stationed at various venues across the ArtsFest weekend they help to support artists and get an unparallel experience of what a large scale festival is like to run. Sound like your cup of tea? Then get applying on our website before this year’s deadline on 24th June.

ArtsFest is part of Birmingham City Council’s Events Team. Other events being delivered by the team this month are:

• The European BMX Championships 18th-19th June
• Armed Forces Day 25th June
