Location & Resources
Filmed around various historical and local areas of Birmingham
I have worked with Film Birmingham in the past for locations and always had a positive experience.
On this occasion this was a much bigger project and was more personal as this was my debut film in my hometown and very location heavy. The film also required multiple City locations, some very specialist locations, and a graveyard location all that encountered various issues with crew and cast for said locations with logistics, parking crew and cast. We had a large scale crew, lots of equipment, wardrobe department and scenes with lots of extras.
After an initial informal meeting with Film Birmingham, any initial worries or problems were soon dispelled. My line producer was then able to put all my locations through online. These were then thoroughly secured and permitted by Film Birmingham. They kept in regular contact online and via telephone with myself and the production office with any queries updates and confirmations of all locations. Film Birmingham worked with us on film throughout the project. This was always reassuring during preproduction and post production. It did feel comforting in the knowledge that we had the full support from Film Birmingham to assist with all our location needs.
I am happy to state that we were successful with all the locations required and everything ran smoothly on the location shoot days. Parking was also granted for the crew for one complex city location that logistically helped keep the schedule on time. It was also good to see Film Birmingham on set a few times during our production as again this assisted us with the smooth running of the production. Since this film I was commissioned by the University of Birmingham to produce & direct a large scale project for 9 x short films that feature the region with various themes for first time students in Birmingham. The films had an eclectic mix of locations, including businesses, music venues and private locations. Again after an initial meeting with Sindy Campbell from Film Birmingham, Sindy and Martin were again able to assist me in securing all said locations including tricky locations like Broad Street and The German Market. I would highly recommend their services as a one stop shop for all your location needs as they have so many contacts and resources to assist with your production.
